I am a future burger princess

At least that's what I like to tell people when they ask me about my future last name.

Me: "Yes - my name is Whitney Thomas - soon to be Whitney Goff. Not G-O-S-S, almost like G-O-L-F but drop the 'L' and add another 'F'."

Someone else: "Huh?"

Me: "Like that burger joint Goff's Burgers in Highland Park or off 635 (Dallas, TX reference)."

Someone else: "Oh does his family own it??"

Me: "Yes."

*Pause*

Me: "But I'd prefer you not say anything. I don't want people to treat me differently after they learn I'm marrying into burger royalty."

And the rest is history... well sort of.

It's funny - three months before Justin and I get married and I've already had that same conversation at least a dozen times.

But I digress - the point of the story was to explain the name of the blog - our future family's name. And with any luck we might actually get some free burgers out of it. :)

Now that I've explained the name - the point. I actually am not a fan of blogging. Don't get me wrong - I have a few that I love to read - but for me personally... I'm thinking I'll treat it like my diary in the third grade. Was really good at the "dear diary" for about a month or so and then nadda... zilch... empty space. The world will never know what angst an 8-year old Whitney went through...

So why am I doing the grown-up version of a dear diary you may ask?

I blame my friends. End. Of. Story.

They're all moving away. And because we tend to have hectic schedules I figured this was at least some attempt (feeble it may be) to ensure we stay in touch with what's going on in each other's day-to-day (or at least week-to-week).

So there you have it. The name. The explanation.

Now to see if this little experiment lasts more than my fated diary...
